Nokia "takes the battle to them" with Symbian Anna-powered X7

Because these days, the only real smartphones left are the REAL smartphones, and so Nokia announced the availability of the Cybertronic-looking X7 in the Philippine market. Available in dark metal and light metal, the mean-looking X7 is the second Nokia smartphone to ship with the Symbian Anna software update.
“The large display on the Nokia X7 is perfect for internet browsing, playing games and viewing video content,” said Mike Smith, Device Portfolio Manager, Nokia Philippines. “Not only have we preloaded the Nokia X7 with the popular gamesAsphalt 5 HD and Galaxy on Fire HD, but our customers can now enjoy a whole bunch of other software improvements through Symbian Anna.
"Browsing and page downloading is faster, and Ovi Maps is enhanced with search features, public transportation routes and check-ins for various social networks. Typing texts and email is also easier with the vertical QWERTY and split-screen view that Symbian Anna offers.”
The Nokia X7 is an entertainment-focused smartphone with a large 4-inch display ideal for gaming, and an 8 Megapixel camera for capturing pictures and HD-quality video. It is a distinctively designed device made from a combination of seamless stainless steel and glass resulting to a solid and durable feel in the hand.
The complete update of the Symbian software, on the other hand, offers a host of usability enhancements, including fresh, new icons, improved text input, a faster internet browsing experience and a refreshed Ovi Maps application with improved search and new public transport routes.
The renewed software also offers a strong set of new features aimed at business users in particular, including true enterprise grade security with hardware accelerated encryption, and new e-mail features such as full meeting request support.
The Nokia X7's cut away corners gave the device an angular style, and easily standing above the rest with its unique look. The 4-inch capacitive AMOLED Touchscreen supports up to 16 million colors with a pixel resolution of 360 x 640.
The display is covered with Gorilla Glass, one which we always expect first from a smartphone that promises all the good things about gaming and entertainment.And it's build is also "optimized" with a stainless steel shell, weighing in at 146g and measuring 119.7 x 62.8 x 11.9mm.
The Nokia X7 offers quad band GSM and support for multiple 3G networks, with support for GPRS and EDGE and can handle HSDPA at up to 10.2 Mbps and HSUPA at up to 2.0 Mbps.
Also with WiFi 802.11 b/g/n , the latest version of Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP support, a Micro USB port, and offers USB OTG that "transforms" the device into a USB stick, allowing simple transfer of files between devices.
The 8.0-Megapixel camera with Dual LED Flash is further enhanced with Geotagging and face detection. The camera is capable of recording HD video at up to 25 fps. Media player supports a wide range of audio and video formats, including MP3, WMA, WMV, MP4, DivX and XviD.
The media player is complimented by a stereo FM radio with RDS, plus 256 MB RAM, 1 GB ROM, and a Micro SD card slot which supports cards up to 32 GB.
The Sam Witwicky in us is crying out to get a Nokia X7, A.S.A.P. Then we can do battle, right away!

Editor's note: Nokia has added some bonus features in the X7, notably the built-in GPS receiver and digital compass. Then came the claim that the X7's 1300 mAh Lithium Ion battery is capable of music playback for up to 50 hours from one single charge, a standby of up to 450 hours and a talktime of up to 6 and a half hours. The Techlab purchased a Nokia X7 two weeks ago, and we say, once we got hold of this contraption, we quickly felt all set and ready to roll out!
