Ayala-led Globe Telecom Inc. said it began pre-selling 2 PlayBook models -- one with 16 gigabytes of storage and another with 32 GB -- on its website on Monday, July 25.
Customers may pre-register to avail of a PlayBook and a BlackBerry smartphone with a postpaid plan until July 29, the company said.
"The BlackBerry PlayBook is a great new addition to Globe's array of BlackBerry products and services to our customers," Globe postpaid head Martha Sazon said in a statement.
The PlayBook has a 7-inch capacitive LCD touchscreen and weighs less than a pound. It also has a 1-gigahertz dual-core processor, front and back cameras, Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth support, among others.
RIM earlier described its product as the first "professional-grade" tablet and stressed its integration with BlackBerry smartphones.
Filipinos earlier dubbed Apple's newest tablet computer, the iPad 2, as the "hottest tablet in the market." It was released in the country last April.
